English Language Matters NewsMore Recognition for ELM Wed 23 Aug 06English Language Matters has once again been recognised for it's excellent teaching and support of students at the annual Education New Zealand awards.
Last year (2005) the school was a finalist for the 'Excellence in Teaching' award. At this year's Education New Zealand conference in Auckland in August, the school was recognised for its 'Excellence in Student Support'. The school was a finalist alongside the University of Otago. There was much competition for the award, with many entries from throughout New Zealand, so Sharron and her team are very happy with the result. The school offers unique support for it's English language students. Sharron and her team have created a friendly, fun and caring atmosphere at the school, and treat all their students as if they were part of a large extended family. The schools care of students goes well beyond the regulatory requirements of the New Zealand Ministry of Education's 'Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students' -- which prescribes a minimum level of care of international students by schools in New Zealand
